Purpose

The RMQ was designed to assess individuals' self-regulation concerns. The RMQ differentiates between:
  • An assessment mode emphasizes comparison and critical evaluation. It is best characterized as wanting to "do the right thing." When faced with a choice, assessors prefer to use full evaluation strategies.
  • A locomotion mode emphasizes the initiation and maintenance of movement. It is best characterized as wanting to "just do it." When faced with a choice, locomotors prefer to use progressive elimination strategies
