Purpose

The CTI was designed to assess experiential information processing. The experiential system (as contrasted with the rational system) is pre-conscious, emotional, fast, and emphasizes imagery. The CTI was theoretically motivated by Cognitive-Experiential Self-Theory (CEST; Epstein, 1973).
